The chief investigator, Pieter van Vollenhoven said engine failure had supposedly caused the crash.

Vollenhoven said engine failure is the initial supposition, the version can be confirmed after the flight recorder is read.
The aircraft, which crashed at Amsterdam airport, had been carrying 7 crew members and 127 passengers. 9 were killed and over 80 injured in the aftermath of the crash. Those killed were four Turks and five Americans.
