PACE publicizes agenda of autumn session

Baku. Tamara Grigoryeva – APA. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has publicized the agenda of the autumn session to be held in Strasbourg from 29 September to 3 October 2008. APA reports quoting PACE website that the session will begin with PACE President Lluís Maria de Puig’s statement, election of Vice-President of the Assembly and debate over the questionnaire for discussing the situation in Georgia. Jorge Sampaio, United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, Yavuz Mildon, President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Jorge Pizarro, President of the Latin American Parliament will address the session on September 29. Judge to the European Court of Human Rights with respect to Luxembourg will be elected on September 30. The consequences of the war between Georgia and Russia will be discussed the same day. Co-rapporteurs on both countries, representatives of the committees for human rights, migration and refugees will attend the debates. Demetris Christofias, President of the Republic of Cyprus, will address the session on the second half of the day. Following this, obligations and commitments by Bosnia and Herzegovina will be discussed. Mehmet Ali Talat, Leader of the Turkish Cypriot Community will address the session and situation in Cyprus will be discussed on October 1. Discussion of the situation in Georgia will continue on October 2. Following this, Fredrik Reinfeldt, Prime Minister of Sweden will address the session, obligations and commitments by Serbia and the situation of national minorities in Vojvodina and of the Romanian ethnic minority in Serbia will be discussed. Combating violence against women, indicators for media in a democracy and other issues will be debated on the last day of the session.
