Baku-APA. Two British soldiers are accused of killing a 21-year old Kenyan woman while Kenya Police and Britain’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) have been blamed for taking a “casual stance” on the matter, APA reports quoting Press TV.

Agnes Wanjiru-Wanjiku disappeared on March 31 from a hotel in the Kenyan town of Nanyuki, which is used as a training base for British troops before their deployment in Afghanistan.

Wanjiru’s “badly-decomposed” body was found inside a septic tank of the same hotel by a cleaner two months later, reports said.

Witnesses asserted that they saw her entering the hotel with two British soldiers. Moreover, a letter from human rights organization Social Watch, which was written to the Kenyan department of public prosecutions, revealed that "a night guard witnessed a fierce fight in the room Wanjiru and the British soldier were occupying".

The local police have been accused of taking a “casual stance” on the matter to avoid getting involved with UK soldiers, British media reported.

Furthermore, the extent to which Kenya Police and the UK MoD are cooperative over the issue is unclear as the MoD refused to give out details about the incident.

“This is an ongoing Kenyan investigation and as such it would be inappropriate for the Ministry of Defence to comment further”, an MoD spokesperson said in a statement.

This is not the first time that accusations are made over British troops’ behavior in Nanyuki. More than 200 British troops were reported to be involved in an intense fight at the town’s Sportsman’s Arms bar in April.
