EU partially freezes Turkey talks
12 December 2006 09:26 (UTC +04:00)
EU foreign ministers agreed to slow down talks on Turkey’s membership at the assembly held on December 11, APA reports. The decision means that talks in eight policy areas will be suspended because of Turkey’s failure to open its ports and airports to Cypriot traffic. The ministers agreed that talks should be suspended in areas touching on trade, transport, financial services and agriculture. In case Turkey changes its position on the ports, the talks on Turkey’s membership will be continued in all areas next year. /APA/
