Baku-APA. The European Union (EU) on Friday called for a complete cessation of violence by all parties in Syria, APA reports quoting XInhua.

After their two-day summit in Brussels, EU leaders drew a conclusion on Syria, which strongly condemned the brutal violence and massacres of civilians and urged an immediate stop of the attacks against the civilian population.

They called for an international, transparent, independent and prompt investigation into violations of international law and human rights with a view to ensuring accountability for those responsible.

The EU leaders reiterated their full support to the UN-Arab League joint special envoy Kofi Annan’s six-point plan and welcomed his efforts to work with key international partners to move the political process forward.

The leaders urged all parties in Syria to fully implement Annan’s plan, allowing full and unhindered humanitarian access and ensuring the safety of the United Nations observers in Syria.
