Baku-APA. Five people, including four Swiss and a French citizen, were killed on Monday in an avalanche in northern Norway, said police in the northern county of Troms, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
A sixth person, who was alive after being dug out of snow from six meters deep, was taken to hospital in the city of Tromsoe and his condition was reportedly stable.
The survivor is a Swiss citizen, said Troms police in a statement.
The massive avalanche occurred at 14:00 local time (1300 GMT) at Mount Sorbmegaisa 65 km east of Tromsoe.
The six persons belonged to a travel group comprising 12 members.
The area of Mount Sorbmegaisa, which is 1,288 meters above sea level, is popular for skiers, but it is also prone to avalanches, according to local community officials.
