Baku-APA. Ukraine and Poland are prepared to host this year’s 2012 European Football Championship, Polish Sports Minister Joanna Mucha said on Monday in Warsaw at a hotline conference between both countries’ EURO 2012 organizers marking the last 100 days to the event, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

On the other end of the hotline in the Ukrainian capital Kiev EURO 2012 organizer Borys Kolesnikov said UEFA had confirmed that both EURO-hosting countries were ready for the tournament.

Kolesnikov added that Ukraine had upgraded four stadiums and four air terminals for the championship.

UEFA Events executive Martin Kallen, also at the Kiev end of the conference, noted that excessively high hotel prices were still a problem to resolve in Ukraine. He said the matter will be discussed next week at a EURO organizers’ meeting in Poland.

Mucha said Poland was nearly ready with its EURO preparations and would officially announce its full readiness in the middle of May.

She added that a top priority in coming months will be cutting processing times on Polish-Ukrainian border checkpoints, where rail travellers and motorists have to wait respectively up to an hour and up to four hours. Mucha said border control teams will be reinforced and procedures streamlined to ensure speedier processing.

The 16-nation Euro 2012, slated for June 8-July 1, 2012, will take place in four Polish cities of Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw and Poznan as well as four Ukrainian cities of Kiev, Lvov, Donetsk and Kharkov.
