Baku-APA. The German Army would be smaller in size and able to carry out military expeditions abroad, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Werner Freers said here Tuesday, APA reports quoting news.yahoo.com website.

"The objective is to increase the army’s operational capability and attractiveness to soldiers of future generations while keeping it financially sustainable and regenerative in terms of personnel," he told military experts at Britain’s Royal United Services Institute.

The ongoing reform and reorientation of the German Army was part of the reform of the whole German armed forces, Freers added.

More than 7,000 German troops are currently deployed outside national borders on a number of missions, including in the Balkans, Afghanistan and several African states.
