He said that investment cost of the project is $10-12bn. Kerimli said that the decision of partners to use their own capitals aims to accelerate realization process of the project. However, he added that banks can be involved after the certain stage of the project.
Turkey part of TANAP is planned to be about 1,830 km. Moreover, diameter of the pipeline up to Eskishehir will be 56 inches, up to Europe – 47 inches.
The project will be implemented in 4 stages and the first stage will be completed in 2018. Annual capacity of the pipeline will be 16 bcm in 2020, 23 bcm in 2013, 31 bcm in 2026. 10 bcm of 16 bcm-Azeri gas will be delivered to Europe, 6 bcm to Turkey.
Kerimli said that the volume of gas purchased by Turkey can be increased at the second stage: “This will depend on tariff agreement”.
Deputy Minister of Turkish Energy Minister Sefa Sadik Aytekin noted that TANAP has capacity to deliver gas produced not only in Shahdeniz-2, but also other fields in Azerbaijan. Gas from other sources can also be delivered through this pipeline in the coming years. He also added that capacity of the pipeline can be increased to 60 bcm.
BP country manager for Turkey Bud Fackrell said that natural gas production of Europe will be reduced by 49% and dependence on gas import will increase in 2035.
