The statement came from Akim Badalov, Director of State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources, APA-Economics reports.

”As part of the Azerbaijani roads project, a 2.8-megawatt station at the exit of Sumgayit and the Sahil and Sangachal stations in the Garadagh district are the priority issues now. The total volume of these stations will amount to 10 megawatts. The work in this regard is still going on. The Sumgayit solar energy station is almost ready. In the Garadagh district, the process of laying out panels is continuing. We’re going to complete these stations and join the Azerenergy network”, said A.Badalov.

He added that the energy generated by the stations will be used for the direct lighting of the roads in the direction of Baku-Garadagh and those in the direction of Ganja, Lankaran, Sumgayit and Baku-Khachmaz.

Note that, the energy produced at the stations that were put into operation in summer in Surakhani is lighting the highways in the suburbs of Baku.
