Aynur Aliyeva - APA-Economics. “The reports on failure of the UK company, which is a strategic partner of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan on compressed gas export to Malta and African countries, are incorrect, said the Malta’s ambassador for Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia John Debono.
“SOCAR invested in this project implemented in Malta. First, SOCAR is one of consortium partners. The project also includes companies of Malta, Germany and Britain. The press reported about British company. However, this is a policy… The press sometimes likes to release pessimistic news. The project is in the process. I assess participation of SOCAR in this project as a good opportunity”, the diplomat said.
SOCAR is a participation of ElectroGas international consortium created for construction of power station in Malta. SOCAR’s daughter company SOCAR Trading SA has 20% equity in this consortium. Its partner British Company Gasol (registered in Virgin Islands) has 30% equity. Other 50% belongs to GEM Holdings Ltd” and “Siemens Projects Ventures.
Malta’s press reports that Gasol has failed: “company announced audit report last month and it’s revealed that the company goes bankrupt. The auditors think the company will not be able to operate in the future”.
