The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has adopted a decision "On designating a state-owned land plot within the administrative territory of Baku as a renewable energy area," APA reports.
According to the decision, a 198.45-hectare land plot belonging to the category of settlement lands in the Zira settlement of Baku's Khazar district has been designated as a renewable energy area for the construction of a 100 MW solar power plant and a 30 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The Ministry of Energy must carry out measures to select an electricity producer in the designated renewable energy area in accordance with the requirements of the "Rules for Selecting an Electricity Producer in Renewable Energy Areas," approved by Presidential Decree No. 2285 dated August 2, 2023.
It has been determined that, from the date this decision enters into force, a construction permit for the solar power plant on the designated 198.45-hectare land plot must be obtained in accordance with Azerbaijan's Urban Planning and Construction Code within the period stipulated in Article 6.7 of the Law "On the Use of Renewable Energy Sources in Electricity Production."
The State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture must inform the Cabinet of Ministers within three days from the date a construction permit is issued or, if no permit is issued within the prescribed period, within three days after that period expires.
Oversight of the implementation of the decision has been assigned to the Agrarian and Ecology Department of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers.
