The oil entering the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export pipeline must meet a specific set of specifications, said Tamam Bayatli, the head of the press service of BP-Azerbaijan, in response to a question from APA-Economics regarding Kazakhstan's plans to increase oil transit through Azerbaijan.
"Since the BTC was commissioned, a particular specification has been determined for the oil entering it. Only oil that meets these requirements can enter the pipeline," said Tamam Bayatli.
According to her, the price of Azeri Light oil exported via BTC is set based on its characteristics.
"Currently, oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field, condensate from Shah Deniz, oil from Kazakhistan and Turkmenistan, and oil produced from other fields in Azerbaijan are transported through BTC. When these volumes enter ACG, their indicators are measured, and if this mixture does not meet the specified criteria, it is not allowed into the pipeline," Tamam Bayatli emphasized.
