The completion of the initial drilling work within the framework of the free gas development project in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields block is expected to be completed by mid-this year in order to produce gas from two priority layers, said Tamam Bayatli, head of the press service of BP-Azerbaijan, in her statement to journalists, APA-Economics reports.
"Drilling works are nearly finished, and we expect to carry out completion works in this well by mid-year and beyond," Tamam Bayatli said.
She also added that this well is very important, as it will allow for evaluation through production, which will also enable the development of future plans based on this evaluation. The well is being drilled on the existing "West Chirag" platform.
"We expect the first gas from deep layers in ACG by the end of this year," Tamam Bayatli emphasized.
Note that once the well is drilled and completed, gas production will immediately be launched. The well should be connected to the existing gas system from the "West Azeri" platform, so that "blue fuel" can be transported to the Sangachal terminal. For this purpose, large-scale equipment must be installed on the platform, and work is currently underway in this regard. The mentioned installation works do not require the shutdown of the platform.
