Azerbaijan plans to expand its production and export capabilities through new gas projects, said Deputy Energy Minister Kamal Abbasov during the session titled “Gas Markets: Infrastructure, Strategy and Geopolitics” at the Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, Azerbaijan's proven natural gas reserves amount to approximately 2.6 trillion cubic meters, and these resources strengthen the country's role in regional and global energy markets.
Kamal Abbasov noted that gas production in the country reached approximately 52 billion cubic meters last year.
According to the deputy minister, Azerbaijan currently exports gas to 16 countries, including 10 member states of the European Union.
He noted that the country is implementing a number of new projects to increase gas production.
“The full-scale development of the Absheron field, the Shah Deniz Compression Project, the ACG Deep Gas Project, and the Bahar project will contribute to increasing production capacity,” Kamal Abbasov stressed.
According to him, first gas from the ACG Deep Gas Project will further expand Azerbaijan's production and export opportunities.
“Looking ahead, our plan is to increase gas exports through both existing and new projects,” the Deputy Energy Minister added.
