Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Georgian Minister of Energy Alexander Khetaguri is today arriving in Baku, said Rovnag Abdullayev, president of SOCAR.

He said a number of issues including cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in the fields of electricity, oil and gas will be discussed during this visit.

“One important point will be our discussion about SOCAR’s constructing a gas storage facility in Georgia. We want to build a storage facility of 300 million cubic meters. This will help us to increase our current 75% market share,” he added.

Alexander Khetaguri told APA-Economics that the capacity of storage facility will be increased gradually to 450 million cubic meters, then to 1.5 billion cubic meters and, finally to 5 billion cubic meters.

“This capacity is much big for Georgia. Therefore, we will explore the possibility of storing gas in this facility and exporting it to Europe,” he added.
