SOCAR, USTDA sign grant agreement

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) have signed a $572,068 grant agreement to perform a feasibility study for a waste center in Baku.

The agreement was signed by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, and USTDA executive director David Hester. Under the agreement, SOCAR will choose the best bid by foreign consulting firms for the project.

Rovnag Abdullayev said this is the second grant agreement between SOCAR and TDA after the first grant came for exploring feasibility of “Southern Corridor”.

He added that SOCAR attaches great importance to environmental projects.
“5 hectares of oil-contaminated area was cleaned in Bibiheybat. This are will be environmentally clean area after a while.

David Hester hailed the implementation of such projects in the face of the financial crisis as positive.
