This is seen as a significant success for Moscow in its efforts to maintain its dominance in energy supplies to European Union nations.
Russia, which supplies a quarter of Europe’s natural gas, wants to accelerate construction of gas supply routes to bypass Ukraine and other ex-Soviet states after disputes with Kiev over transit payments several times in recent years.
The deals also envisaged the participation of Russia in the Samsun-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the extension of the Blue Stream pipeline to Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Cyprus.
