SOCAR Energy Georgia plans to increase number of filling stations to 35

Baku. Elmin İbrahimov – APA-Economics. SOCAR Energy Georgia, a Georgia-based subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), plans to intensify operation in the retail sector, Mahir Mammadov, the company head, said, BNE (www.businessneweurope.eu) reported.

We plan to open SOCAR filling stations and increase our share on the oil products market of Georgia. At the moment, we control 50% of the petrol market and 60% of the diesel market in Georgia, Mammadov noted.

SOCAR Energy Georgia owns 23 filings stations in Georgia. The company plans to open new ones in autumn 2009 in Marneuli, the Kvemo Kartli Region, and Sagarejo, the Kakheti Region. The company plans to open total of 30-35 filling stations until 2010.

SOCAR Energy Georgia imports 20 000 tons of oil products a month on average, including 15 000 tons of petrol.
