Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH), Greek DEPA and Italian Edison signed an agreement, said the ambassador. “We delivered this information to Minister of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev and earlier we had consultations about that. A proper agreement with Azerbaijan will be possible after the signing of transit gas deal between Azerbaijan and Turkey”.
Ambassador Masha said EU supported diversification of the energy vectors. “Nabucco will be implemented 5 years later, but this project demands less financial resources and will be put on operation in 2012”.
The ambassador said during the last visit of Bulgarian President Georgy Pirvanov to Baku, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev promised gas supply to Bulgaria. “This project is a step toward keeping of this promise”.
Greece and Italy import one billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas through the ITGI pipeline. 150-km new pipeline will be constructed between Italy and Bulgaria until 2012, which will allow Italy to import 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas, Greece – one billion, Bulgaria – 1-3 billion.
