Tripartite agreement reached on Azerbaijani gas transportation to Bulgaria

Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH), Greek DEPA and Italian Edison signed an agreement, said the ambassador. â€œWe delivered this information to Minister of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev and earlier we had consultations about that. A proper agreement with Azerbaijan will be possible after the signing of transit gas deal between Azerbaijan and Turkeyâ€.
Ambassador Masha said EU supported diversification of the energy vectors. â€œNabucco will be implemented 5 years later, but this project demands less financial resources and will be put on operation in 2012â€.
The ambassador said during the last visit of Bulgarian President Georgy Pirvanov to Baku, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev promised gas supply to Bulgaria. â€œThis project is a step toward keeping of this promiseâ€.
Greece and Italy import one billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas through the ITGI pipeline. 150-km new pipeline will be constructed between Italy and Bulgaria until 2012, which will allow Italy to import 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas, Greece â€“ one billion, Bulgaria â€“ 1-3 billion.
