Syria’s President: â€œAzerbaijan gave consent to sell 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year to Syria at current pricesâ€

Two years ago we launched talks on either acquiring a gas supply or constructing a gas pipeline from Turkey to Syria. Azerbaijanâ€™s gas can be delivered to Syria through this pipeline and to the south â€“ Jordan and Egypt via Syria. We attach great importance to the purchase of natural gas, because we have fewer resources. Undoubtedly, great part of gas to be transported through this route will be Azerbaijanâ€™s gasâ€, said Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad at Azerbaijan â€“ Syria Business Forum, APA reports quoting AzerTAG state agency.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad noted that the gas pipelines would give an impetus to further development of relations between Caspian Sea, Black Sea and Arabian Gulf regions: â€œWe conducted talks on the purchase of gas from Azerbaijan. This gas must be delivered to Syria via Turkey. Azerbaijan gave consent to sell 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year to Syria at current pricesâ€.
