Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. “I believe youth organizations will work to ensure the participation of the younger generation in the election. President Ilham Aliyev also said that we need a responsible youth,” Ali Hasanov, the Azerbaijani president's aide on public and political issues, said on Oct.20.
Hasanov made the remarks at the meeting with youth organizations over the involvement of young people in the parliamentary elections, organized by the Presidential Administration, the Youth Foundation under the Azerbaijani President and the Central Election Commission.
Hasanov said young Azerbaijanis undertook huge responsibility and burden during the first-ever European Games. The volunteers, having increased in experience during the Games, are now capable of having other youngsters follow them.
“We call on all Azerbaijani young people to closely participate in the elections. There are wide discussions today on social network as well as in local and foreign media about the Azerbaijan elections. There are also going to be more discussions about the exit-poll results once the elections are over. Resist against local and foreign organizations as well as individuals who are aimed at distorting the realities of the Azerbaijani elections. Just speak what you’re seeing. We want nothing else from you. Be more active at meetings with the candidates and inform them of your problems so that work on issues of youth may be one of the priorities if they are elected as an MP. I wish every one of you realizes their patriotic responsibility and more actively participate in the elections,” he added.
Hasanov also noted that President Ilham Aliyev is displaying a resolute stance regarding the protection of Azerbaijan’s interests and sovereignty.
“Our duty is that we should protect the Azerbaijani state. Every state is representative of its citizens’ interests and adjusts its foreign policy in accordance with these interests. And you, youth, must be active in the upcoming elections,” he stressed.
