Addressing the meeting, Sabuhi Abdullayev, head of the Gabala District Executive Authority, informed of the activities carried out in the district in recent years and the planned projects.
He said that a grape processing plant, a fruit juice and wine production plant, piano and elevator manufacturing factories, large cattle-breeding complex, refrigerated warehouses, poultry farms, 18 modern hotels and recreating centers, sports and entertainment centers have been built in recent years. Thousands of locals have been provided with permanent jobs thanks to these activities.
Minister Kemaleddin Heydarov, in turn, spoke about the tasks set by President Ilham Aliyev during the conference dedicated to the results of the second year of implementation of the State Program on socio-economic development of districts in 2014-2018.
Speaking about the global economic crisis, the minister noted that these processes have resulted in a decline in oil prices and the devaluation of the exchange rate of manat. “However, President Aliyev’s instructions, decrees and orders, amendments to the laws show that Azerbaijan will further strengthen its economy and increase social welfare of the people,” he said.
Heydarov said that Gabala district has a great tourism potential. Important work has been and will be carried out towards the development of tourism in the district.
The minister recommended to the businessmen to effectively use curative mineral water from the hot springs in Gamarvan and Yengija villages of the district.
He added that work done for development of industry, agriculture and tourism in the district in recent years produced results and proposals were made for the implementation of new projects in this direction.
The minister said the meetings held in districts under the instructions of the president are aimed at becoming familiarized with the situation and living conditions of the people, problems and difficulties faced by local businessmen and taking steps to resolve them. He called on representatives of the public to submit proposals for the development of Gabala and actively participate in the discussions.
Businessmen and farmers of the district gave information about their activities. The district’s businessmen and farmers informed about their activity areas. Nij settlement resident, farmer Aghalet Bakhishov proposed to be provided by the government with financial aid for raising feed production for livestock and poultry, creating small production workshops, entrepreneur Jeyhun Eyvazov for enhancement of activity of safe door and household equipment factory which he runs, businessman Abdulla Hashimov for development of carpet-weaving workshop in Vandam settlement, ASPI Agro LLC representative Ajdar Shafizade for support to organize the exports of wine products to foreign countries, Sakhavat Nazirov for support for development of gardening, Gurbanali Dashdamirov for construction of a water reservoir in the district’s Yengija village in order to help irrigation of arable lands, Tofig Shukurov for fishery development, Oktay Khankishiyev for enhancement of “Gabala Poultry” OJSC’s activity and creation of new jobs.
During the meeting, issues of employment of Gabala residents, strengthening of their social protection, dynamic development of economy and activation of potential opportunities were discussed.
The minister said that for the development of non-oil sector Gabala lands should be used efficiently and more attention should be paid on export-oriented production.
