Seyidov said the reports that he addressed a letter to PACE and the Armenian side took advantage of this letter during the session are completely groundless.

Seyidov also added that he continues to fulfill powers of the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE and he couldn’t attend the PACE winter session due to health problems.

Earlier, haqqin.az news portal reported that Samad Seyidov was dismissed as head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE. According to the news portal, just a week before the discussion of the report titled “Escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” by Robert Walter, Seyidov sent a letter to PACE which didn’t not reflect the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani lands or appeal to PACE for condemnation of the Armenian military aggression against Azerbaijan. The letter almost covered the peacekeeping activities of PACE, stressing the need to strengthen its activities in the region.

During the vote on the report by Robert Walter, the Armenian delegation and lobby took advantage of Seyidov’s letter to prove the groundlessness of the report, which became of the reasons behind the document’s disapproval.

Following this, it was decided to dismiss Seyidov from the post of head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE. MP Vusal Huseynov has reportedly appointed to this post.
