Foreign journalists must be accredited to observe elections in Azerbaijan, says presidential aide

Hasanov made the remarks at the seminar titled “Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan: the roles and duties of media in pre-election process”, co-organized by the Presidential Administration, the Central Election Commission, and the Press Council in Baku Oct.2.

Hasanov said that foreign media outlets get access to monitor the elections after being accredited in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and getting relevant card informing the CEC.

“Those journalists and circles intending to conduct anti-Azerbaijani campaign should know that it is necessary to fulfill legal norms to carry out such an activity in Azerbaijan. Necessary condition has been created in Azerbaijan for all foreign media outlets. However, if a foreign media outlet wants to operate in Azerbaijan, it should register journalists in accordance with the law,” he added.
