The president made the remarks at the conference dedicated to outcomes of the second year of implementation of the “State Program on socio-economic development of districts of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014-2018”.
The head of state said that but for economic independence, Azerbaijan would have become dependent.
“In fact, last year was hard. But we have to learn to overcome difficulties. The current situation is more complex than that observed in the 1990s,” Aliyev noted.
“The global economy is on the brink of recession for various reasons. Azerbaijan is also a part of the global economy,” the president said, noting that Azerbaijan will surely develop in spite of global economic recession.
Over the last twelve years, Azerbaijan has passed a long and glorious path, said Aliyev. “The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline have already been constructed. Azerbaijan has become into a cosmic state,” he noted.
The president said an atmosphere of tolerance prevails in Azerbaijan, recalling the Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations to be held in Baku this year.
