Armenia's occupation policy has been characterized by targeted looting, vandalism and urban destruction,  Fatma Yıldırım, Deputy Chairwoman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, told APA.

The MP said that the ideas voiced by President Ilham Aliyev during the meeting with residents who moved here on December 24 during the opening of the 2nd residential complex in Aghdam were an expression of the 30-year pain of not only one region, but also of the Azerbaijani people as a whole, as well as the triumph of justice and revival: “The occupation policy pursued by Armenia against Azerbaijan was not an ordinary military confrontation, but a deliberate plunder, vandalism and urbanicide. Armenia’s goal was to completely destroy the historical and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people in these regions, erase the traces formed over millennia, and turn these lands into areas where it will be impossible to live in the future. The footage, videos and facts shown in the territories liberated from occupation after 2020 clearly showed this to the whole world. In the occupied territories, our cultural heritage was destroyed, our mosques were insulted, our holy shrines were destroyed, and the monuments that kept our history alive were razed to the ground. This vandalism is not only a crime against the Azerbaijani people, but also against humanity as a whole. is a grave crime committed against cultural heritage. At the same time, Armenia has demolished buildings in the occupied territories and looted every property of greater or lesser value, transporting it to Armenia and other countries. Azerbaijan's natural resources, our forests, gold and other mineral deposits, and mineral mines have been ruthlessly exploited, and an ecological disaster has been committed. This looting is a crime not only against the present, but also against the rights of future generations. The activities of Western companies in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, their participation in the looting of Azerbaijan's national wealth, and the fact that no measures have been taken against them to this day are also a reality.

Fatma Yıldırım noted that one of Armenia's gravest crimes was the mass mining of these territories: "The goal was to prevent people from returning to their native lands even after the war ended. Unfortunately, as a result of this mine terror, hundreds of our citizens have died or been seriously injured even after the occupation. These facts are a gross violation of international humanitarian law."

The deputy emphasized that today the Azerbaijani state is building and creating, writing history: "The opening of new residential complexes in Agdam, the return of people to their native lands, the restoration of infrastructure are the result of the power of our state, political will, and the unity of the President and the people. Azerbaijan is restoring justice, life, and the future in its lands. The revival of Agdam is one of the brightest symbols of this justice."
