The Baku branch of the International Institute for Monitoring the Development of Democracy, Parliamentarism, and Observance of Citizens’ Electoral Rights (IIMDD) of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) organized an international conference today within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty,” APA reports.
Representatives of the parliaments of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, representatives of the diplomatic corps of CIS countries, and representatives of higher education institutions and state bodies participated in the event.
In his address to the conference participants, Dmitry Kobitski, Head of the Secretariat of the CIS IPA Council, noted that Azerbaijan’s experience in state-building carries special significance in the CIS space:
“Thanks to Heydar Aliyev’s political talent, Azerbaijan has become a sovereign and flourishing state. His statecraft experience is of great interest to all CIS member countries.”
