Azerbaijan’s parliament speaker meets ICAPP delegation to discuss political cooperation in Asia

On October 16, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with a delegation led by Chairman of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) Chung Eu-yong, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

Stating that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of political relations with Asian countries, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova said that ICAPP acts as an important mechanism of multilateralism and solidarity in the region, and is an important platform promoting peace, security, and cooperation in Asia.

During the conversation, information was provided about the role of the New Azerbaijan Party, founded by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and chaired by President Ilham Aliyev, as the ruling party of our country, and its active international relations. Satisfaction was expressed with the active and successful representation of the New Azerbaijan Party at the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, and the importance of the events held within the framework of cooperation between the parties was noted. In particular, international events such as the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) held in Baku under the organization of the NAP and the 4th meeting of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) on the theme “From National Diversity to Global Solidarity: The Role of Culture in the New World Order” make a significant contribution to strengthening the dialogue between political parties and cultural institutions of different countries, deepening mutual understanding, and developing cooperation based on common values.

Chairman of the ICAPP Standing Committee Chung Eu-yong said that the organization he represents attaches special importance to relations with Azerbaijan and noted the development of existing relations with the ruling party of our country.

During the conversation, views were exchanged on the future development prospects of cooperation between the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev and currently chaired by the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis, and ICAPP, expanding inter-parliamentary relations in the Asian region and deepening mutual understanding, and other issues of interest to the parties.
