In line with the President’s initiatives and recommendations, the Government of Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of statistics, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov at the 3rd International Statistics Forum held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that in recent years, the statistical agency of Azerbaijan has developed significantly: “This development is quite distinct both methodologically and organizationally. The President and the Government have expressed their satisfaction with the activities of the statistical agency. In particular, upon the President’s initiative and with the support of the Government, six state programs have been adopted in recent years, and these programs serve the development of statistics in our country.”
Statistics is such a tool that it serves as a fundamental basis not only for the economy but for forecasting the past, present, and future of all areas of society as a whole. This foundation is formed by specific statistical data, figures, diagrams, and charts. As the Government of Azerbaijan, we use this almost every hour in our daily activities. Because in order to assess development, one must rely on strong foundations and concrete figures. Statistical data allows us to evaluate the steps we take properly. From this point of view, statistics should play an important role in the development of every society, every country, and every field.”
“Naturally, just like in all fields, statistics is currently going through its own stage of development. As noted in the letter addressed by the President to the Forum participants, digital development, IT technologies, artificial intelligence, and the application of new methods are making statistics more accurate, flexible, and accessible,” Ali Asadov added.
