Azerbaijan has introduced new compulsory health insurance payment rules for employees in the non-oil and non-state sector who earn more than 2,500 manats a month, APA reports.
Under the amendments to the Law on Health Insurance, the contribution threshold has been lowered. Both employers and employees will now pay 2% on the portion of monthly salaries up to 2,500 manats and 0.5% on any amount above that level.
The new rates apply to private-sector workers outside the oil and gas industry. Previous rates were calculated using a higher income threshold of 8,000 manats.
The changes are intended to adjust the system of contributions as compulsory health insurance continues to be expanded across the country.
