President Ilham Aliyev’s participation over the past 15 days in international meetings – whether at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the 7th Summit of the European Political Community in Denmark, the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Gabala, or the Peace Summit on Gaza in Egypt – is a manifestation of multifaceted foreign policy, Arzu Naghiyev, Chairman of the Defence, Security and Counter-Corruption Committee of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) told APA.
Arzu Naghiyev noted that this also reflects the growing influence of Azerbaijan and the trust that President Ilham Aliyev has earned among world leaders: “The President of Azerbaijan is recognized as an influential leader on the world stage. The messages conveyed by President Ilham Aliyev – on preventing threats to energy security, global security, cooperation in opening communications, and peacebuilding – carry significant importance. This also shows that President Ilham Aliyev is not only a participant in all events but also a state leader who guides events. In his speech at the UN podium, President Ilham Aliyev put forward the idea of a new security architecture; at the European Political Community summit in Denmark, he spoke on the topic of a reliable bridge in the South Caucasus; in Gabala, he confirmed Azerbaijan’s leading position in the Organization of Turkic States; and at the Peace Summit on Gaza in Egypt, he emphasized the importance of justice and mutual respect. All of this represents Azerbaijan’s rising image. The President’s participation in so many important international meetings over the past 15 days demonstrates that Azerbaijan is recognized as a regional leader at the global level and that relations are established with Azerbaijan as a reliable partner.”
The parliamentary committee chairman emphasized that this once again proves that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan pursues an independent domestic and foreign policy: “At the core of this policy are sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the welfare of every Azerbaijani citizen.”
