APA reports that OSCE Representative praised Azerbaijani government for adopting laws regulating combating trafficking and cooperating with nongovernmental organizations in this field.
“I am pleased to hear that the Interior Ministry will soon open four regional rehabilitation facilities for the victims of trafficking. But unlike other OSCE members very few victims of trafficking have been determined thanks to the nongovernmental organizations in Azerbaijan. From my personal experience I can say that very rarely the victims of human trafficking give information about themselves to the law-enforcement bodies. That’s why special mechanisms should be created to determine channels and victims of trafficking. My Azerbaijani colleagues should continue active political dialogue with OSCE,” she said,
Eva Biaudet said Azerbaijani government intended to work on the problem of trafficking more actively. She said combating trafficking in children was very important.
Eva Biaudet had met with vice-speaker of Azerbaijani parliament Bahar Muradova, Interior Minister Ramil Usubov, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, chairwoman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s problems Hijran Huseynova, Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev, national coordinator on combating trafficking in human beings Vilayat Eyvazov, representatives of nongovernmental organizations and diplomatic corps.
