Azerbaijan’s President chosen regional leader for Near East in poll of WorldPublicOpinion.org

APA reports quoting the international news agencies that Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev was chosen regional leader for Near East. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon tops the rating and President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf is the last. 35 percent of the respondents supported Ban Ki-moon. He is followed by Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin. 32 percent of the respondents voted for him. UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown is the third with 30 percent of the votes. He is followed by chairman of People’s Republic of China Hu Tszintao (28 percent), President of France Nikola Sarkozy (26 percent), U.S. President George Bush (23 percent) and President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Only 18 percent of the respondents voted for Pervez Musharraf.
WorldPublicOpinion.org polled 19,751 people from 20 countries. 60 percent of the world’s population lives in these countries. The poll was conducted from January 10 till May 16, 2008.
