Azerbaijan’s embassy announces finalists of an essay competition

USA. Husniyye Hasanova-APA. The Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United States has announced finalists of an essay competition on the topic of “Geographically Distant, Strategically Close: How the US and Azerbaijan Can Further Strengthen Relations and Pursue Common Interests Over the Next 10 Years”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the 16th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the US.
Azeri ambassador to the US Yashar Aliyev said he was very happy that American students had so perfect knowledge of political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
The finalists were carefully selected from a number of well-written submissions.The finalists, along with their respective university affiliations and areas of concentrations, are as follows:
Mr. Stephen Mintz and Mr. Jeffrey Lightfoot (USA), collaboration, George Washington University, European and Eurasian Studies; Mr. Alexander Groce (USA), University of Maryland/Harvard University, Slavic Languages; Ms. Lauren Anguis (USA), Columbia University, History; Ms. Mary Zeng (USA), Princeton University, Near Eastern Studies; Mr. Morgan Frederick (USA), University of Montana, Economics; Ms. Brianne Todd (USA), Georgetown University, Russian/Eurasian/East European Studies; Mr. Pin-Quan Ng (Singapore), Columbia University, Economics and Political Science.
