YAP holds all-republic meeting related to the presidential elections in Azerbaijan

Baku. Elnur Mammadliâ€“APA. New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) has held the all-republic meeting of the heads of partyâ€™s city and regional organizations, related to the preparations for upcoming presidential elections, Press-Service of the Party told APA. Addressing the meeting, the YAP Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary Ali Ahmadov said a number of amendments had been made to the Electoral Code by the Parliamentâ€™s decision. He said according to the amendments, the election campaign would start in early August and agitation would be conducted for 28 days. The rest of campaign period will be spent for nomination of the candidates and collection of signatures for their registration, as well as verification of the signatures in the Central Election Commission and other procedures. Ahmadov urged the city and regional organizations to make serious efforts for quicker and more dynamic campaign. He said the party has already started preparations for the presidential elections. The Deputy Chairman said personality of the candidates was the main issue and YAP candidate Ilham Aliyev had a high influence among the society. â€œNomination of Ilham Aliyev for the presidency is guarantee of YAPâ€™s success in these elections tooâ€. Ahmadov said the partyâ€™s leadership prepared special concept related to the October 15 presidential elections and working plan for its implementation. YAP deputy executive secretary Siyavush Novruzov informed about the details of work to be done by the partyâ€™s city and regional organizations within the working plan and spoke about their tasks. He said the city and regional organizations scheduled conferences and congresses on the eve of elections.
