Organization of the Islamic Conference decides to drive for world recognition of Khojaly Genocide

Elshad Isgandarov, Secretary General of the OIC Youth Forum, told APA that the intergovernmental expert panel held a meeting on â€œthe 20th Century Humanitarian Tragedies in the OIC Countriesâ€ in Istanbul.
The meeting, together with ISESCO, was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Culture of the OIC countries and diplomats accredited in Turkey.
Elshad Iskandarov said the meeting adopted a final communiquÃ© and the report.
February 26, the date that marks the Khojaly Genocide of Azerbaijanis by Armenians in 1993, was included into the list of OIC Countries Memorial Days for the Humanitarian Tragedies. In addition, it was decided to raise the issue of recognition of Khojaly Massacre as the genocide and crimes against humanity during the dialogue with regional parliamentary assemblies of Europe, Asia and Africa.
Hagar Ibrahim, representative of Iskenderiye library, briefed the delegation about the â€œJustice for Khojaly and Liberation for Karabakhâ€ and a fact-proving film was displayed.
At the end of the presentation, the expert meeting adopted a resolution on the initiative by Leyla Aliyeva. Besides, the decision to include information about Khojaly Genocide into textbooks in the OIC countries was reflected on the action plan.
The recommendations by the Expert Meeting will be submitted for approval to the annual session of the OIC Foreign Ministers that will take place in June.
