85th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev solemnly marked in Moscow

Ramiz Mehdiyev, head of Kremlin Administration Sergei Naryshkin, Russian Presidentâ€™s Assistant Jakhan Polliyeva, Director General of ITAR-TASS Information Agency Vitaly Ignatenko and First Deputy Director General of the Agency Mikhail Gusman, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu, First Deputy Mayor of Moscow Lyudmila Shvetsova made speeches in the event. Sergei Naryshkin said the event commemorated great statesman and politician, who always played main role in Russia-Azerbaijan relations.
â€œAzerbaijan has always been Russiaâ€™s strategic partner and it will always be soâ€, he said.
Ramiz Mehdiyev said Heydar Aliyev had devoted his life to his motherland and compared him with such great politicians as Ataturk and Churchill. Ramiz Mehdiyev also underlined that Russia had an important place in Heydar Aliyevâ€™s life.
â€œHeydar Aliyev was born in Azerbaijan, but Russia was his second homeâ€, he said.
Lyudmila Shvetsova said Heydar Aliyev was an honest person and devoted to his people.
â€œAzerbaijanâ€™s leader is a person, who wrote historyâ€, she said.
It was noted in the event that Ramiz Mehdiyev had been awarded â€œFriendshipâ€ order under the decree of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. Ramiz Mehdiyev expressed his gratitude to Russian Government, Moscow Mayorâ€™s Office, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, URALSIB Financial Corporation and ITAR-TASS for organizing photo exhibition reflecting Heydar Aliyevâ€™s life. The participants were given books devoted to Heydar Aliyev by ITAR-TASS.
The event ended with the concert of Azerbaijani and Russian art figures.
