Boris Gryzlov: We offered Azerbaijani officials to establish Parliamentary Assembly of the Caspian states

Boris Bryzlov said that the relations between the two countries, as well as the interparliamentary relations were at high level. Mentioning that presidential elections had been held in Russia recently, Boris Gryzlov said new President Dmitry Medvedev would continue to pursue the previous policy. Boris Gryzlov said he had met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, speaker Ogtay Asadov and underlined that Moscow-Baku-Tehran railway project had been discussed during the meetings.
Boris Gryzlov said Russia’s position on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict was unchangeable.
“We support the negotiations within the framework of OSCE Minsk Group. Russia will support any agreement that will be reached by the sides. During the meetings we offered to establish Parliamentary Assembly of the Caspian states,” he said.
Boris Gryzlov said Russia was interested in the solution of the problem concerning South Ossetia and Abkhazia. According to him, members of the State Duma wanted to discuss the appeal of the South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
“We have not seen positive measures of the Georgian officials for the solution of this problem,” he said.
