Baku. Elnur Mammadli -APA. Azerbaijan Democratic Party issued a statement protesting the non-consideration of opposition’s demands in the draft submitted to the parliament on changes and amendments to the Election Code. Press-service of the party told APA that not only opposition’s demands, but also advises of OSCE, Venice Commission and other international organizations were not taken into consideration. ADP said points prevented free, equal and fair elections were added to the draft law. “Reduction of election campaign term from 120 days to 60 and agitation campaign term from 60 days to 21, ban of campaign in the state-run mass media, revoking of street agitation, complicating of candidates’ registration, simplifying the annulment of registration of registered candidates, not keeping the parity rate between government and opposition in the election commission and other points shadow the fairness and equality of upcoming presidential elections”. ADP considers formation of election commissions not on the base of parity backgrounds as a violation of obligations taken before the international organizations. The party officials said if the law wouldn’t meet the principles of free, equal, fair and democratic elections, the government and international organizations would take responsibility for the elections, if those wouldn’t be democratic.
