Ilham Aliyev: I, as a president, have a say to report
“For a country with a population of 8.5 million people, this figure is a quite great. We are implementing major infrastructural projects and oil strategy successfully, and Azerbaijan has an opportunity to export its oil through three pipelines via three countries -Russia, Georgia, Turkey. Besides, a gas pipeline has been laid for the first time to pump Azeri gas to the world market. As to the social sphere, we can talk a lot on investments, healthcare and education. Over the past four years, 1 200 schools were built and computerized. We are making vast investments in healthcare, other issues of public concern - infrastructure, power plants, water and gas pipelines and environmental programs. Today, there is no field of economic sectors left without any programs,†he added.
Ilham Aliyev added that he is going to run for the presidential election with the results he mentioned.
“I, as a president, have a say to report. None of my promises remain unfulfilled. Let me add that some had then seen my promises unrealistic. In the run-up to the 2003 elections, I pledged 600 000 new jobs would be created. Many then wondered how this would be possible during five years. However, we achieved this. I promised that there will be no one refugee tent camps in five years. The camps had housed ten thousands of refugees. The last of 12 tent camps has been dismantled this year, and all refugees and internally displaced persons have been resettled in new homes,†he noted.
Azerbaijani President aired his expectations for the next decade that his country is to enjoy influx of hundreds of billions of dollars from the implementation of energy projects.
“We see Azerbaijan in the future as a developed and democratic nation where people live in peace, harmony and social justice. That is how I wish to see Azerbaijan, and we have everything to achieve that. There is a unity of the will of the people, society and government. Our programs would never been implemented without the support of the population. There are financial resources, stability in our country, and we has established good relations with our neighbors that is important for each country. Therefore, I am optimistic about the future of Azerbaijan and I am confident that the future of Azerbaijan is very bright.
