There was no official agreement was reached on holding the next meeting of the working groups for drafting agreement on broadcast of Russian TV channels in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani TV channels in Russia, one of the members of Azerbaijani working group, member of National Television and Radio Council Gafar Jabiyev told the APA.
He said they heard the reports about Russia’s proposal on holding meeting in the third decade of July in Baku from the press.
“Final document was made at the meeting of working groups in Moscow on June 8. Some details were to be coordinated in the document. Azerbaijan and Russia offered different variants on the issues. We reached an agreement on submitting the document to the government after the next meeting of the working groups. It seems the discussions were not held due to the rigid schedule of government officials. And now, Russian press reports that the working groups will meet in the third decade of July. We are not informed about it,” he said.
Gafar Jabiyev said Azerbaijan is ready for negotiations and underlined that mutual broadcasting of Russian and Azeri channels is a principle point.
“Russia agreed to it at the meeting of the working groups. This point is reflected in the document. We stick to our position. National Television and Radio Council prolonged RTR’s broadcasting for a month. This is a serious warning. We are interested in continuing relations. But the compromises, relations, opportunities should be mutual,” he said.
ORT’s broadcasting was stopped on July 11 by the decision of National Television and Radio Council.
By another decision of National Television and Radio Council RTR-Planeta’s broadcasting has been prolonged for a month. /APA/
