Ali Ahmadov: Ali Insanovâ€™s remarks prove that he was not devoted to the party

Ali Ahmadov, deputy chief and executive secretary of ruling YAP (New Azerbaijan Party) has been interviewed by the APA

- What is your opinion on the recent events in the party, tried ex-minister Ali Insanovâ€™s statements and Sirus Tabrizliâ€™s remarks?
- YAP is the only party in Azerbaijan having strong bulwark from the aspect of internal stability. One of the characterizing features of YAP is its stability, monolithic character and unity. Monolithic character in such a great party is an important feature and the party can be proud of this. These features of YAP are connected with the facts that the then president Heydar Aliyev founded the party, and now it is chaired by President Ilham Aliyev. The recent reports on â€œeventsâ€ in the party are groundless. As to the statements of the former member of YAP Managing Board and former Health Minister Ali Insanov and former deputy chief of the party Sirus Tebrizli they cannot overshadow the monolithic character of the party. Their statements do not reflect reality in the party.
- What are the main causes of these statements?
- The causes and motives of Ali Insanovâ€™s statements are clear. He faced serious charges. Ali Insanov should put forward arguments to prove his innocence not to make political statements. Some of these statements are connected with YAP. It is a pity hat he makes false statements about YAP. It shows that Ali Insanov was not devoted to the party. It is impossible to believe the impartiality of Ali Insanovâ€™s statements, who wants to turn the trial into a show. The former party member Sirus Tebrizli also wants to damage the partyâ€™s image by making such false statements. YAPâ€™s ideas have been clear since it was established. Sirus Tebrizliâ€™s remarks aim to make a stir or to show himself as a hero. I do not accept it. Therefore, the Political Board of the party was resolute and made corresponding decision.
- Some regard this decision as violation of freedom of speech and expressionâ€¦
- YAP and any other party is a political organization voluntarily uniting people. It is based on being devoted to any idea or person. Otherwise, it is impossible to ensure partyâ€™s unity, or to carry out duties. Therefore, we want every member of the party to fulfill his obligations. If one of the members is against the partyâ€™s ideas, does not agree to the partyâ€™s policy without any grounds, he dismisses himself from the party. No one was obliged to join YAP. Those who believe Heydar Aliyevâ€™s policy joined the party. If somebody does not agree to the partyâ€™s policy, he can leave the party. Therefore, the decision made concerning Sirus Tebrizli should not be regarded as an action beyond democratic principles, but devotion to the partyâ€™s principles and ideas. It is absurd to regard it as indifference towards democracy.
- Will the decision possibly made on Ali Alirzayev?
- Every member of YAP must accept the partyâ€™s principles and ideas. It is not right to make groundless accusations. In this case, this man is automatically dismissed from the part. This idea should be accepted by society. Preserving the partyâ€™s unity and monolithic character is very important for us.
- The defense lawyers for Ali Insanov have made claims against youâ€¦
- Ali Insanov sued me for my statements in the press about him. I will not be able to participate in the court proceeding on April 4. My lawyer will represent me in the trial. Ali Insanovâ€™s claim is groundless. My statements to the press about Ali Insanov are almost nothing compared with his accusations about YAP. It seems that he can make false statements, turn the trial into a show but we can not say that his statements are groundless. As the claim is groundless, I believe that the court will pass a just decision.
- Ali Insanov said that he spent much money on YAP when he was minister. Are these reports true?
- YAP expressed its position concerning this when Ali Insanov first made this statement. Neither Ali Insanov, nor the other members of the party have role in the partyâ€™s financing. They only pay membership fees. Ali Insanov lies. He did not participate in the partyâ€™s financing.
- Farhad Aliyevâ€™s trial will start soon. Do you expect him to make analogous statements?
- I cannot say say anything beforehand. We will react adequately. I do not want people faced charges to turn the trial into a show. This is the weakest way of defense.
- When will the new appointments to vacancies in YAP start?
- The party has leadership and bodies. Decisions on the party, as well as improvement of the staff, vacancies are made basing on the opinion of the partyâ€™s leadership. The executive secretariat leads the daily activity of the party. The party leader has two deputies â€“ Murtuz Aleskrov and me.
- The opposition started some debates concerning 2008 presidential elections. One of them is connected with united candidate...
- The opposition is living a crisis period. I do not want to speak about its causes, but this is the reality. The opposition is not able to cause any problem for YAP by choosing a united candidate. The opposition wants to join the elections with several candidates, anyway it has little hope. Voting for one or several opposition candidates will not impede YAP. Over 85% of the voters support the policy pursued by the authorities, and the rest is not capable of causing problems for YAPâ€™s candidate. /APA/
