International conference “History of tragedy” devoted to March 31 – the day of Azerbaijani genocide was held in Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society named after Muslim Magomayev, APA reports.
Sport and Youth Minister Azad Rahimov said that the world community should express position on the fact of genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis and assess these events. Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Huseyn Avni Karslioglu said that Turkish nation never committed genocide.
“Our humanity is sourced by our religion and national identity, Turkish people are not like Europeans. The west justifying genocide through showing support for Armenia should know this,” he said.
Turkish Historical Society chief Yusif Halachioglu said that he revealed Armenians’ lies with the help of historical sources.
“When Europe made the occupation of the world its target, it attacked the only unoccupied place Ottoman state. Armenian organization “Hincag” was established in 1881 and Dashanksutyun party was established in 1889. Following this, terror started against Turks in the region,” he said.
He called the reports about murdering of two million Armenians in Ottoman state in 1915 nonsense.
“According to the data of Armenian catholic church at that time shows that 1.905 million Armenians lived in the territory of the Ottoman Empire. Thousands of Armenians live in Turkey at present,” he said. /APA/
