Nazim Alekberov: We ask businessmen to provide prisoners with work

He said that Detention Ward 1 and Gobustan Jail are chosen as pilot institution in the frame of the project. Substantial changes have been made in those institutions. He said that the new corps of Detention ward 1 was reconstructed by the European expertsâ€™ offers. It is considered to hold ten prisoners in the cell and to create new jobs in the Detention ward 1.
â€œThe authority of Penitentiary service should reconstruct some rooms in that building, Council of Europe should supply with new equipments. It is already decided to open shoes and cloths workshop in the ward. The dining-room in Gobustan jail has been reconstructed. Council of Europe will supply the dining room with new equipments. The opening ceremony of the dining-room will be held in the first ten days of December,â€? he said.
Alekberov said that they work with some government bodies on provision the prisoners with work and stressed that they asked the business men for creating new jobs in the wards. He noted that nearly 20-30 new jobs are opened in the jail on account of Penitentiary Service.
â€œWe provided 15-20 percent of the prisoners with work. We would like the businessmen to help us in this field. We have also appealed to Economic Development Ministry,â€? he said. /APA/
