Baku-APA. Annual traditional festival is held in Mainz, Germany on February 20-24, APA reports.
The festival covers demonstration of culture of various nations, national minorities, amateur stages on global problems and political developments, protest of attendees against wars and tensions, their support for peace in the world etc. The festival is a popular site of informal conversation of honorary state figures, outstanding socio-political and art figures.
Mainz Festival is a great and old one. Every year about one million people attend the festival which has held since 1837. German leading TV Channels air the festival.
German delegation headed by Jens Beutel, Mayor of Mainz visited Azerbaijan in May, 2007. The delegation familiarized with problems of IDPs in several regions. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the delegation. As a result of the visit Beutel made a statement under title of “Where is Azerbaijan!” and provided his impression about Azerbaijan and Armenia’s aggressive policy.
February went down to history as month of festivals in whole Europe. These festivals are equal with carnivals in Brasilia. Europeans call these festivals as fifth season of the year. Except medical worker and policemen all people attend the festival in Köln, Düsseldorf and Mainz.
