Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations approves action plan on 17th anniversary of Khojaly Genocide

Baku–APA. The State Committee for Work with Diaspora approved the action plan on marking the 17th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide by the Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations abroad.
Press service of the Committee told APA the Khojaly tragedy would be remembered in the protest actions, conferences and exhibitions. Series of events dedicated to the 17th anniversary of Khojaly Genocide in Strasbourg, France will begin with the commemoration ceremony of February 26 in the building of European Parliaments Association. Permanent representation of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe, Azerbaijani and Turkish organizations, Azerbaijani students in Strasbourg, as well as representatives of the local and foreign organizations will attend the ceremony dedicated to one of the terrible tragedies of 20th century. Organizers of the event will present materials about the Khojlai Genocide and Armenian savageries, as well as materials published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the different languages about the Armenian-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The participants will be informed about the terrorist and genocide attacks committed by the Armenians against the Azerbaijani people. Film and photos about the tragedy will be demonstrated at the event. The organizers are also planning to place materials about the tragedy in the electron media and to hold round table.
Azerbaijani House in Strasbourg will hold demonstration in the central square of Strasbourg on February 28. The local radio will broadcast on February 29 the special program dedicated to Khojaly Genocide.
The series of events on the 17th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide will be held in Germany. First vice-chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Veleh Hajiyev and president of the German-Azerbaijani Forum Otto Hauser will attend the 30-minute live program on Frankfurt-based FOX television dedicated to the Khojaly Genocide.
Azerbaijani House and Society of German-Azerbaijan Solidarity will hold meeting in one of the central squares of Berlin to attract the attention of German public community to the realities of Khojaly Genocide.
Dutch Azerbaijan-Turkish Cultural Study Group will hold ceremony before the Khojaly monument in Hague on March 1 to remember the victims of the genocide. Azerbaijani and Turkish ambassadors to the Netherlands and activists of the Azerbaijani and Turkish Diaspora organizations will attend the ceremony.
Belgian-Azerbaijani House will pitch a tent in Place de Schuman square of Brussels on February 26 on the occasion of 17th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide. Members of Cologne-based United Azerbaijan Society will arrive from Germany to attend the event before the European Parliament in Brussels together with the Azerbaijani and Turkish Diaspora organizations.
Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations will hold a rally protesting against the Khojaly Genocide in Sergels torg, Stockholm. “Motherland” society in Denmark will mark the anniversary of Khojaly genocide by presenting documentary film, brochures and books about the genocide.
Various events will be held in the United States to commemorate the victims of the genocide. Azerbaijani-American Council and Azerbaijan Society of America will organize “Khojaly week” in the US. The events will be held in New York, San Francisco, California and Chicago. Conference will be held within the framework of the events “Khojaly justice campaign”. Khojaly film made by Heydar Aliyev Foundation will be demonstrated. MP Havva Mammadova’s book about Khojaly genocide published in English will be presented. Picket will be held outside the UN office in New York. The picketers will appeal to the UN member states and Secretary General. Azerbaijani parliamentarians Havva Mammadova, Ganira Pashayeva and Asim Mollazadeh, American journalist Thomas Goltz will attend the events.
Azerbaijan New York Association and the country’s Permanent Representation to the UN will also mark the 17th anniversary of the genocide in New York.
On February 16, Turkey Azerbaijan Circles Federation will hold a commemorative event and photo exhibition on the 17th anniversary of the genocide. Azerbaijan Culture and Solidarity Circle will hold a commemorative event in Manisa. Azerbaijanis studying in Izmir will hold a conference along with Azerbaijan Culture House and Solidarity Circle.
Economic, Cultural Cooperation Center will hold a commemorative event in Dogu Akdeniz University of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Official guests, students and teachers of Dogu Akdeniz University will participate in the event.
The 17th anniversary of the genocide will also be marked in Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czechia, Romania, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Arab Republic of Egypt, Australia, Thailand,, New Zealand, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus.
Azerbaijan Cultural Center and Azerbaijani embassy in Georgia will hold a roundtable on Khojaly genocide in Marneuli, Georgia. On February 26, Georgian Azerbaijanis Congress and the embassy will organize a scientific practical conference in Tbilisi.
All-Russian Azerbaijan Congress plans to hold a meeting and demonstrate a documentary film about Khojaly Genocide in “Baku” cinema in Moscow on February 26.
Azerbaijani artist Rasim Seydiyev’s exhibition on Khojaly genocide will be organized by Ukraine Azerbaijan Congress in Kiev on February 26. The exhibition will also be demonstrated in Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk. The Azerbaijanis living in Kiev and other cities of Ukraine will picket outside Armenia’s embassy on February 26. Picket will also be held outside OSCE Office in Ukraine, resolution on Khojaly Genocide will be adopted.
