Leadership of World Azerbaijanis Congress holds press conference on outcomes of Australia visit

Baku. Elnur Mammadli – APA. Co-chair of the World Azerbaijanis Congress Sabir Rustamkhanli held a press conference on the outcomes of the congress leaders’ visit to Australia, APA reports. Rustamkhanli said Co-Chair of the World Azerbaijanis Congress Firidun Perviznia and Chairman of the Permanent Council Ejder Tagizadeh and he were in Australia from January 28 till February 12. They visited various cities. He said they visited Turkish House, Turkish Consultation Circle and radio “Voice of Azerbaijan” in Sydney, had meetings with the senators of Australian parliament, attended a roundtable and were in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meetings focused on the activity of the World Azerbaijanis Congress, Azerbaijan’s problems, problem of South Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh conflict. At the meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the representatives of Australia offered opening of Azerbaijan’s embassy. Sabir Rustamkhanli said the Azerbaijanis living in Australia faced a number of problems, since there was no embassy in the country. The co-chair of the congress underlined that he would appeal to the related government agencies.

The representatives of the World Azerbaijanis Congress organized a conference “Today of the Turkish World and the activity of Azerbaijani-Turkish Diaspora” in Sydney. Rustamkhanli said Australian representation of the World Azerbaijanis Congress had been established and Ahmad Geybi chosen head of the representation.
