Nazim Ibrahimov holds press conference on 11th Friendship, Brotherhood, and Cooperation Congress of Turkic States and Communities
Nazim Ibrahimov said heads of influential Azerbaijani and Turkish communities operating in foreign countries will participate in the event. The committee chief said that about 550 guests from 30 countries have been invited to the event.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, president of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mehmet Ali Telet will participate in the opening of the congress.
The ninth president of Turkey Suleyman Demirel will attend the closing ceremony.
Nazim Ibrahimov noted that members of the World Azerbaijanis Coordinating Council have also been invited to the event.
Turkish-Speaking States and Communities Friendship, Brotherhood and Cooperation Foundation (TUDEV) closely participated in the preparations for the congress along with Azerbaijani side.
The committee chief noted that Azerbaijani government assumed to hold the event and President’s Reserve Fund allocated funds for the congress.
Mr. Ibrahimov said that problems worrying Turkish World, Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, approach to Northern Cyprus, condition of Turkish-speaking people living in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ahiska Turks returning to their historical lands will be debated in the Congress. Views will also be exchanged on cooperation in science, technique, culture, education, economics, trade, tourism and finance among Turkish-speaking people. Committee chief said after official opening that the work of the Congress will be continued in 6 commissions – “International relations, media and information technologiesâ€, “Economic, commercial and financial relations and tourismâ€, “Science, education and technologyâ€, “Governance of society and lawâ€, “Language and Culture†and “Youthâ€. The reports of the commissions will be heard at the end of the event, final report of the Congress will be adopted. Following this, statement on the so-called “Armenian genocide†claims is expected to be adopted in the Congress.
Turkish-Speaking States and Communities Friendship, Brotherhood and Cooperation Foundation (TUDEV) has been organizing the Friendship, Brotherhood, and Cooperation Congress of Turkic States and Communities since 1993. All ten congresses were held in Turkey.
