Houston Azerbaijanis Society participate in International Festival of Fort Bend

October 21 was marked by yet another festival, this time by the International Festival of Fort Bend, Texas. This festivity was attended by over five thousand people, including representatives of Houston Azerbaijanis Society, member of society Javid Zeynalov told the APAâ€™s US bureau.
The festival started with the costume parade. 17 people dressed in traditional Azerbaijani costumes proudly walked down the stage with Rashid Beybudovâ€™s â€œ Azerbaijan â€ song in the background before the broad audience and dignitaries. Azerbaijani flag was carried with a great pride and honor.. At the same time the presentation on Azerbaijani culture, traditions and history was given on the big screen to the festival attendees. Houston Azerbaijanis organization was an ethnic committee leader and a co-sponsor for this event.
Houston Azerbaijanis Folk Dance group performed three dances: Uzum, Arzu and a male solo dance. Azerbaijani cuisine was organized by the members of Houston Azerbaijanis and supported by the local restaurant â€œTurquoise Grillâ€. Beef and chicken pilaf and Mutaki (traditional Azerbaijani sweets) were offered for degustation. Azerbaijani art was presented by the local Azerbaijani artist Masoud Faraschi. The art booth included paintings, books and videos about Azerbaijan .
Houston Azerbaijanis was the ethnic leader and one of the sponsors of the International Festival of Fort Bend. US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, Consulate General of Azerbaijan in California, Azerbaijani Student Union, Best Buy closely participated in the organization of Azerbaijani exhibition in the festival. /APA/
